Job Overview
- Role: Sanding Operative
- Department: Production / Manufacturing / Workshop
- Hours 7am - 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7am - 1pm on Friday
- Pay: £12.71 per hour
- Repetitive role, sanding down all day
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Smooth and level surfaces by removing rough spots, old finishes, rust, or excess material.
- Machine & Tool Operation: Safely operate hand sanders, orbital sanders, belt sanders, or automated sanding equipment.
- Grit Selection: Choose the correct sandpaper grades or abrasive belts for each stage of the smoothing process.
- Quality Inspection: Check finished work for scratches, dents, or flaws to ensure it is ready for painting, varnishing, or assembly.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and change worn abrasive belts or filters on machinery.
- Housekeeping & Safety: Keep the workspace tidy, empty dust extraction units, and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous hands-on experience in a manufacturing, woodworking, or industrial finishing environment is essential
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and lift moderate to heavy materials.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on surface quality and consistency.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to following health and safety protocols and proper PPE usage.
