About the Business

We\’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established, fast-growing electrical wholesale business with a strong local presence and a reputation for service, availability and long-term customer relationships. This is a high-impact role for a commercial, self-driven salesperson who enjoys building a patch and growing profitable accounts.

The Role

As an External Sales Manager, you\’ll take ownership of a Leeds-based territory, focusing on increasing sales, protecting margin and developing long-term partnerships with electrical contractors, M&E businesses and trade customers. You\’ll work closely with the branch team to ensure a seamless customer experience from quotation through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing trade accounts across the Leeds area
  • Identify, target and win new business opportunities within your patch
  • Build a strong pipeline through regular customer visits, prospecting and referrals
  • Prepare and follow up quotations, negotiate pricing and protect margin
  • Promote a broad electrical product range and introduce new lines where relevant
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure service levels, delivery and stock support
  • Maintain accurate CRM/pipeline activity and report on performance against targets
  • Provide market feedback on competitor activity, pricing trends and customer needs

What We\’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in external/field sales within electrical wholesale or closely related sectors
  • Strong commercial awareness (sales growth, margin, pricing and account development)
  • Confident winning and developing relationships with electrical contractors/trade customers
  • Self-motivated, organised and able to manage a territory with minimal supervisionComfortable with targets, KPIs and maintaining a structured sales pipeline
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Knowledge of the Leeds/West Yorkshire contractor and trade market
  • Experience selling a broad range of electrical products (e.g., cable, lighting, containment, switchgear, EV/renewables, tools)
  • Strong CRM discipline and reporting habits
