Fibreglass Laminator Role Overview: Working in a team environment, you will work on a range of products including showers, baths, and automotive components. You will need to understand lay-up drawings and use your laminating skills to complete the required workload. Primary responsibilities include preparing and applying fiberglass sheets or moulds to create various components and products. This includes cutting fiberglass materials to size, mixing resin and hardeners, and applying them to fiberglass sheets. Use rollers or brushes to remove air pockets and ensure a smooth, even coat on moulds or parts, adhering to safety and quality guidelines. You may be required to work across different departments depending on workload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare moulds ready for gel
  • Read and understand lay-up specifications
  • Apply gel coat
  • Perform a range of laminating processes, including wet-lay and spray lamination
  • Use hand tools effectively
  • Identify laminating defects
  • Work with core materials and bonding pastes
  • Release simple moulds
  • Use and control patterns and jigs
  • Maintain basic housekeeping standards
  • Record daily time spent on jobs
  • Correct use of PPE
