Commercial Sales Manager - Architectural Glazing

We’re recruiting for a senior commercial sales professional to join an established Midlands-based architectural glazing and fenestration business at an important stage of growth.

The operation is bringing together its manufacturing, commercial project and residential activities, creating a broader sales opportunity than a traditional trade sales role.

You’ll have an established customer base and commercial pipeline to work with, but the real opportunity is to help shape where the business goes next - developing direct relationships with contractors, growing trade supply, opening new accounts and strengthening the company’s position against larger competitors.

This is not a conventional B2C window sales role. We’re looking for someone with genuine commercial B2B experience who understands how to sell technical products and projects into the construction and glazing market.

The Role

You’ll take commercial responsibility across three key channels:

  • Commercial/direct contractor sales - developing relationships with main contractors, developers, architects, specifiers and other project-led customers
  • Trade/supply-only sales-growing business with installers, glazing contractors and subcontractors purchasing fabricated aluminium systems
  • Residential and showroom opportunities - helping develop the higher-value residential side of the business alongside the wider commercial strategy

A major objective will be to create a balanced sales pipeline, with the majority of growth coming from direct commercial and residential relationships rather than relying too heavily on any single subcontract channel.

You’ll manage existing opportunities while actively creating new ones, following quotations through to order and working closely with estimating, production and operational teams.

The role will involve understanding drawings, specifications and project requirements, discussing technical solutions with customers and identifying opportunities to value engineer projects without compromising performance or compliance.

We’re looking for someone who can bring:

  • Ideally a background in architectural glazing, aluminium windows and doors, curtain walling, fenestration, façade systems or construction products
  • Experience selling to contractors, subcontractors, installers, developers or specifiers
  • Confidence managing quotations, project pipelines and longer commercial sales cycles
  • Strong technical aptitude and the credibility to speak with knowledgeable trade customers
  • A genuine new-business mentality alongside the ability to develop existing accounts
  • Commercial awareness around margin, pricing, value engineering and project viability
  • The ability to build relationships across both operational and senior decision-making levels
  • Knowledge of aluminium systems such as Reynaers, Aluprof, Kawneer, Smart Systems or similar would be particularly relevant.

More Than Just Sales

There’s another important part to this appointment. The business wants somebody who thinks commercially about how the company presents itself to the market. That could include helping improve LinkedIn activity, website content, case studies, presentations, sales documents and the overall quality and consistency of the brand. You won’t be expected to become the marketing department, but you should understand that credibility matters when competing for larger projects and customers. We’d particularly like to speak with candidates who can give real examples of how they have helped improve market presence, sales collateral, customer engagement or brand perception in previous roles.

Why Consider It?

The scope of this position has grown significantly. There is an existing manufacturing operation, established commercial relationships and a pipeline of project opportunities moving into the business. The successful person will have the chance to bring these together and play a significant part in building the next stage of growth.

With a £65,000–£75,000 basic salary plus OTE, this is aimed at an experienced commercial salesperson who wants more than simply inheriting a list of accounts.

If you know the glazing, fenestration, aluminium or wider construction-products market and want a role where you can genuinely influence commercial direction, we’d be very interested in speaking with you.
