Class 2 Driver Needed

Location: Cradley Heath, West Midlands, B64 6PW

Salary: £13.60 per hour (basic rate) + overtime opportunities

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 4:00pm | Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. Flexibility required due to early starts and operational requirements. Nights Out: Approximately one night out per month.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and professional HGV Driver to join our client based in Cradley Heath. Reporting to the Transport Manager and Transport/Yard Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and timely delivery of goods while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Driver who takes pride in their work, values safety, and enjoys being part of a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check all loading and delivery documentation before leaving site.
  • Ensure goods are delivered accurately, on time, and in full.
  • Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signed proof of delivery.
  • Operate vehicles safely and professionally in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Comply with all Tachograph regulations and Driver Hours legislation.
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards at all times.

Vehicle & Transport Operations

  • Keep company vehicles clean, presentable, and roadworthy.
  • Conduct daily vehicle defect, tyre, and fluid level checks.
  • Report vehicle defects, maintenance issues, or breakdowns immediately.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and control of loading and delivery operations.
  • Assist with transport and yard activities as required.

Health & Safety

  • Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • Ensure loads are secured safely and transported correctly.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times on company and customer sites.
  • Report accidents, incidents, or equipment misuse immediately.
  • Observe site speed limits and loading area safety requirements.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure goods are loaded, packaged, labelled, and delivered to the highest standards.
  • Monitor product quality and presentation, reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Support colleagues in maintaining quality standards across operations.
  • Attend training when required and assist with the training of others where appropriate.

  • Valid HGV Driving Licence.
  • Current Driver CPC qualification.
  • Good understanding of modern transport operations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Tachograph regulations and Driver Hours legislation.
