We are looking for someone with experience in sustainability, environmental and carbon data who loves to get stuck into the data, creating models and insightful analysis. Data analysis plays a key role in measuring, managing, and reducing our negative impacts to climate and other planetary issues, and working toward evidencing our positive impact in the long run.
You could be a Sustainability Manager, Carbon Accountant, Carbon Specialist, or an Accountant / Data Analyst with experience in the space, looking for your next exciting opportunity in sustainability.
Responsibilities- Collect and manage data related to the carbon emissions across the Virgin group.
- Build models or create scenario analysis from the data to provide meaningful insights on trends and our progress against emissions reduction targets, in collaboration with the sustainability team.
- Develop framework, process, and control to standardise data collected including implementation of robust review controls and manage assurance engagements.
- Work to enable accurate and transparent disclosure in our purpose and sustainability reports, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with industry-leading greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting standards, such as the GHG Protocol.
- Be the in-house expert on relevant regulations and reporting standards.
- Conduct life cycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impact of investments, operations, products, and/or services core to our business.
- Create and co-develop sophisticated types of environmental analysis, which help bring detail to a business climate impact.
- Engage stakeholders, including colleagues across Virgin, and with our external service providers and partners.
- Partner with colleagues and consultants to co-develop and inform risk registers and develop reporting under TCFD.
- Knowledge of carbon data, including scope 1, 2 & 3.
- To be comfortable handling large data sets, building models and creating meaningful data analysis.
- Experience applying reporting frameworks (e.g., IFRS).
- Experience with non-financial data reporting.
- To be comfortable working with specialised software tools and platforms for carbon (a.k.a. greenhouse gas (GHG)) accounting, emissions tracking, and data analysis.
- Experience as a qualified management accountant, carbon accountant or sustainability carbon specialist with built environment experience.
- Project management experience.
- Experience managing and dealing with multiple workstreams and senior stakeholders.
