Our client works to transform the electrical grid into an infrastructure for the future. They design and manufacture solutions aimed at digitalizing the electrical grid to integrate more renewable energy generation, enable more sustainable mobility and guarantee the power supply to buildings and infrastructures with critical energy needs.
Due to growth, they are now looking for a Lead Service Engineer. You will be based out of the Northwest within proximity to St Helens and your primary role as Lead Service Engineer will be to ensure the safe execution of all service-related projects. Typically, your tasks will include servicing, upgrades, and life extension of switchgear and ancillary equipment. Services will be delivered to various customer sites across the UK, overseas, offshore, and marine-based. It is essential that the Service Engineer Lead has a driving license and is comfortable with regular UK travel and nights away as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing support to our service team across installation and commissioning of activities within assigned projects
- Dealing with enquiries from existing customers concerning technical support, advice, and future service offerings
- Undertaking pre-mobilisation duties e.g., project specific risk assessments, method statements
- Participating in, and promoting, a proactive approach to Health and Safety
- Safely performing all necessary service-related tasks at head office and across customer sites
- Switchgear service and maintenance, switchgear upgrades and life extension projects, protection relay testing and upgrades, switchgear breakdown investigation and repairs
- Undertaking safety, competence and task related training as identified by the company
- Experience working as a Switchgear Service Engineer or within a similar electrical service role
- Strong hands-on experience with switchgear, installation, and maintenance
- Ability to work independently on-site and manage workload effectively
- Comfortable working away from home Monday to Friday
- Willingness to travel, including occasional offshore or overseas work
- Full UK driving licence and comfortable driving vans
