Job Description

Our client enjoys an enviable reputation within their field, and have huge plans for further digital growth.  With a great product range, values, and customer centric approach to their work, they have been recognised nationally for their continued success. 

They are now looking for an Online Trading Manager to be based out of Slough or Milton Keynes, with travel to both locations.  The role will be four days per week from the office, with one day per week work from home and comes with a company car due to travel across both sites.  This is a cross functional role, with collaboration at the heart of it and as the Online Trading Manager you will take ownership of their eCommerce performance and growth, driving online sales by maximising conversion and ensuring products are presented in the most compelling way to optimise customer journey. You will use data and insights to shape trading decisions, deliver impactful merchandising, and test new ideas that enhance both customer experience and commercial outcomes. You’ll be proactive, customer -centric, and able to thrive in a fast-moving digital retail environment.

Key Responsibilities – Online Trading Manager

– Own the day-to-day trading of the website to deliver sales, margin, and digital KPIs

– Develop and implement weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual trade plans aligned with revenue, margin, and EBITDA targets

– Lead trade meetings to review performance, share insights, and identify future growth opportunities

– Manage weekly and monthly forecasting of sales KPIs

– Collaborate with Buying team on range availability and product opportunities

– Collaborate with wider Multichannel team to develop and manage the digital trading calendar, ensuring alignment with marketing campaigns, launches, promotions, and seasonal activity

– Work cross-functionally with Content, UX/UI, CRM, and Performance Marketing to ensure seamless execution of campaigns and traffic-driving activity.

– Monitor and analyse on-site performance

– Manage trading reports and dashboards to track KPIs and share insights

– Deliver best-in-class on-site visual merchandising and customer experience

– Manage and optimise smart search & merchandising platforms

– Work closely with UX team to support experimentation activity interpreting results to inform optimisation strategies and analyse behavioural data

Required Skills – Online Trading Manager

– Proven experience in ecommerce trading within a retail or consumer brand environment. 

– Ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a small team of direct reports.

– Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sales growth, margin improvement, and digital KPIs.

– Deep understanding of ecommerce metrics and analytics, with hands-on experience using GA, Content square, or similar tools.

– Experience managing advanced search and merchandising platforms (e.g., Algolia, Advanced Commerce, Nosto)

– Strong understanding of digital marketing levers (CRM, performance marketing, content) and how they impact trading performance

– Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills

– Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
