Our client is a successful ecommerce brand who has plans to open stores over the next couple of years. They have developed a brand where people sit at the heart of their success, and customer proposition is everything.
They are now looking for a Retail Operations Manager who will be based out of their Swindon offices for a minimum of two days per week, with work from home possible across the other days. Acting as the bridge between the Retail Directors strategy and execution, the Retail Operations Manager develops the systems, standards, communication structures, and ways of working that enable stores to perform consistently and sustainably.
Working closely with the Retail Director and wider support functions teams, the Retail Operations Manager is accountable for ensuring stores operates as one connected retail business, with clear standards, strong governance, effective communication, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Retail Operations Manager β Responsibilities
- Support the Retail Director to translate business strategy into operational execution.
- Analyse retail performance, customer, operational, and people data to identify trends and opportunities and provide recommendations.
- Support business planning, retail development initiatives, and operational projects.
- Develop and maintain clear operating standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Drive consistency in operational execution, customer experience, and store presentation.
- Support new store openings, refits, relocations, and retail development projects.
- Establish and maintain effective communication structures across the retail estate, head office and support functions.
- Own the retail compliance framework and implement mitigation plans.
- Ensure retail adherence to company policies, Health & Safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency and store effectiveness.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Retail Operations Manager β Required Skills
- Knowledge of retail operations and any previous experience within a similar role would be advantageous.
- Ability to work at pace, with a positive, independent, and self-motivated approach.
- Effective communication style with ability to build cross department relations.
- Solution orientated, able to simply approach and make quick decisions.
- Technology and data savvy with a keenness to improve business systems and processes.
- Able to take the lead on projects and to gain buy in and support from stores.
