Azure Data Engineer – Thame – Remote – 1 day Month in Office - £50,000
My client is a leading Retail Consultancy that work with a number of high profile Retail chains, consuming data and providing Insight and Reports.
Due to exciting growth we are looking for an ambitious and skilled
Azure Data Engineer to join the Business Intelligence function and play a key role in architecting, maintaining and troubleshooting internal database structures.
As the new
Azure Data Engineer you’ll be part of the Database team, working closely with the reporting and QA teams to deliver top level data outputs for internal and external facing reporting, including 3rd party integrations.
On a daily basis the
Azure Data Engineer will be responsible for
- Build and Refine queries, CTE’s, stored procedures, views and functions
- Create and Maintain tables, indexes, constraints, schemas and triggers
- Diagnose slow queries using execution plans, cardinality estimates, IO and wait stats
- Design optimized queries for CPU, IO and memory usage, reducing locking.
- Checking job schedules, ETL Pipelines and data freshness
- Build and Maintain ingestion pipelines
- Enforce constraints, referential integrity and validation rules
- Support compliance requirements
- Document data pipelines, schemas, stored procedures, data flows and standards
- Promote best practices
- Plan for Scalability
- To be considered for this role as our
Azure Data Engineer you should have experience of
- Strong experience developing in SQL from creating database models from scratch
- Solid understanding of Data Warehousing (star schema, fact/dimension design)
- Expert in writing efficient TSQL code
- Proficient in query optimization, partitioning and index design.
- Good understanding of data cleansing and preparation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate across the whole BI team
- Practical and proven experience in designing and deploying Azure Data Factory data pipeline.
- Translating business questions into SQL and explaining query logic clearly
