We have been asked to recruit a Production Director for a business based in Kettering. The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.
You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of manufactured products from order through to site installation, ensuring that production plans, contracts timelines, and installation schedules are fully aligned. Working closely with Contracts Managers, this role ensures that manufacturing output supports on-time, in-full installation, minimising delays, rework, and site issues.
What they need is someone who has experience of working in a Senior leadership role within manufacturing (fabrication / metalwork).
- Full responsibility for all manufacturing operations including CNC laser cutting, brake press / forming, machining, MIG/TIG/manual welding, shot blasting, painting / finishing and assembly/ fitting.
- Ensure production is delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Balance automated and manual processes to optimise throughput and cost.
- Responsible for capacity and resource planning across all work centres.
- Improve manufacturability through early engagement with design and contracts teams.
- Input into capital investment decisions (machinery, automation, layout).
- Support scalable growth of the manufacturing operation.
- Lead production managers, supervisors, and team leaders.
- Ensure training, capability, and performance management.
