A leading facilities management provider has recently secured a prestigious new portfolio of commercial properties across Central London and is looking to recruit a number of experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineers. Working across high-quality commercial buildings in the Fitzrovia area, you will be responsible for electrical statutory compliance checks, planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to the electrical and wider M&E plant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrical engineer who enjoys fault-finding, takes pride in their work and is comfortable operating within busy, client-facing commercial environments.
Typical Daily Duties
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to electrical systems and building services plant.
- Completing statutory electrical compliance checks and maintaining accurate records.
- Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out reactive repairs.
- Maintaining lighting, emergency lighting, distribution boards, power supplies and control systems.
- Carrying out lamp changes, ballast and driver replacements.
- Testing and resetting fire alarm systems where authorised.
- Completing emergency lighting inspections and functional tests.
- Carrying out basic testing using appropriate electrical test equipment.
- Inspecting electrical panels, isolators, contactors, relays and control circuits.
- Supporting the maintenance of AHUs, FCUs, pumps, motors and associated electrical controls.
- Monitoring plant and alarms through BMS systems.
- Responding to urgent breakdowns and electrical callouts.
- Escorting and supervising specialist subcontractors.
- Completing electronic job sheets, PPM records and compliance documentation.
- Reporting defects, safety concerns and recommendations for remedial works.
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with current electrical regulations and health and safety procedures.
Qualifications Required
- Applicants must hold a recognised Level 3 electrical qualification, such as:
- City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations, or equivalent.
- City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology.
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services.
- City & Guilds 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment.
- A recognised electrical apprenticeship with an equivalent Level 3 qualification.
- You should also hold:
- City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- The following would be advantageous:
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing, or equivalent.
- AM2 qualification.
- ECS or JIB card.
- Emergency lighting, fire alarm or PAT testing experience.
- HV or LV authorised person experience.
Experience Required
- Previous experience working as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer within commercial offices, mixed-use buildings or similar environments.
- Strong experience carrying out electrical PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Good fault-finding skills across electrical distribution, lighting and control systems.
- Experience maintaining electrical supplies to mechanical plant such as AHUs, FCUs, pumps and motors.
- A good understanding of statutory compliance and electrical safety.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional, reliable and client-facing approach.
