About the Company

We are recruiting on behalf of a busy and well‑established waste management and recycling company operating a large processing site in Ilkeston. The business specialises in the handling, sorting, and movement of waste and recyclable materials, offering long‑term opportunities within a stable and growing operation.

The Role

We are currently seeking experienced Loading Shovel and/or 360 Material Re-Handler Operators to join a fast‑paced waste management facility. This is a hands‑on role requiring confidence operating heavy plant machinery within a busy recycling environment. Successful candidates will have previous industry experience and a strong awareness of health & safety procedures.

Shift Pattern & Hours

  • Monday to Friday 07:00am – 05:00pm
  • Optional Saturday work available
  • Overtime paid after 40 hours
  • Sunday work paid at 2x rate

Pay & Benefits

  • £13.50 per hour + holiday pay
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Ongoing, long‑term work
  • Temp to perm opportunity after 3 months

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operating loading shovel and/or 360 material re-handler machinery
  • Moving, sorting, and loading waste and recyclable materials
  • Feeding materials into processing equipment and bays
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and containers
  • Maintaining safe and efficient material flow across the site
  • Carrying out daily machine checks and reporting defects
  • Adhering to strict site health & safety procedures
  • Supporting general yard operations when required

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating loading shovel or 360 material re-handler machinery (essential)
  • Waste management or recycling experience (preferred)
  • CPCS / NPORS / in‑house tickets accepted
  • Out‑of‑date tickets may be considered depending on experience
  • Own transport required to get to site
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic and good attitude

Start & Duration

Immediate starts available (ASAP). Ongoing work with permanent contracts available after 3 months.
