Scope: Client is currently seeking a Senior Applications Specialist to provide functional support for PeopleSoft Student Administration (Campus Solutions). The University has deployed several SA Modules: Recruiting & Admissions, Campus Community, Student Records, Financial Aid and Student Financials. The system is currently on v9.0. Other third party products are included in the environment supporting PeopleSoft HCM and Finance.
General Summary
The Senior Application Specialist is primarily responsible for the support of the campus business operations through centrally administered software systems. The position requires a broad application of principles, theories and concepts of enterprise software and a working knowledge of related fields. The specialist participates in the development of functional specifications, delivers on project tasks, ensures the accuracy of application systems documentation and assists in the development of end user training.
- Primary support for one or more PeopleSoft modules/applications
- Familiarity with business processes and procedures as they relate to Student Financials
- Understanding of XML template building and modifications
- Analyze and troubleshoot operational issues
- Ability to create and execute test scenarios
- Ensure system remains current and compliant through patches, fixes and enhancements
- Work with management to improve operational standards and procedures
- Collaborate with campus constituents to:
- Translate functional business requirements into design criteria
- Prioritize work to meet campus expectations and deadlines
- Document functional specifications
Qualifications and Specific Skills
Applicants for the Sr. Applications Specialist position must be able to manage short/mid and long-range projects and initiatives and be able to transition back and forth between activities effectively. Must be able to utilize available resources to research and work independently to solve production issues and analyze potential solutions to business issues or requests.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- 5-7 years’ experience in a business office or Higher Education Student Administration or Finance systems setting with demonstrated progressive experience in developing, enhancing, and supporting departmental applications.
- 5-7 years of PeopleSoft experience is required with deep functional and analytical skills in one or more modules. Experience with application processes, e.g. PeopleTools App Designer, XML, SQL/query, reports.
- 5-7 years’ experience in project life cycle phases is required; analysis and design, testing, data conversion, change management.
- Financial Aid experience a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a large complex environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Exceptional skills in providing quality customer service to multiple organizations within the enterprise.
- Solid interpersonal skills with ability to work well with people at many levels of the organization.
