About the role: We are looking for a Consultant or Senior Consultant to join our growing team, focused on providing financial analysis and modelling to a broad range of clients. The role will involve advising on a mix of projects including property, regeneration, investment, green finance, funding and more.

We are keen to speak to candidates who can work alongside senior colleagues to deliver the following services:

  • Robust analysis and financial modelling for a range of projects
  • Supporting sound strategic decision-making on projects including property and housing development, regeneration schemes, asset strategy and investment, project procurement and delivery partnerships
  • Carrying out development appraisals for our property projects
  • Advising clients on the impacts of projects and making strategy recommendations
  • Developing business plans, as well as HMT Green Book business cases and options appraisals
  • Developing a strategic approach to securing investment by developing public-private partnerships, such as joint ventures and setting up trading companies
  • Supporting 31ten’s wider projects and teams with specialist analysis and modelling expertise

Recent example work includes:

  • Creating the funding strategy for a 10,000-home garden village
  • Assessing the risk level of c.£500m of debt funding provided by a local authority to local capital projects
  • Working on business cases for new care homes
  • Developing a strategy for how business rates can be used to fund a major HS2 station regeneration
  • Pricing environmental credits to protect water quality
  • Supporting a London Development Corporation in assessing the financial performance of its Joint Venture projects
  • Auditing the financial model that underpins a district heat network
  • Advising on how best to commercialise space on a car park-based arts hub

In this role, we’d expect you to:

  • Be a clear and effective communicator, with the ability to flex style to the audience and client context
  • Be a confident report writer and happy holding the pen
  • Be able to design and complete a range of data analysis and convey key insights clearly and effectively
  • Take responsibility for clarifying scope, planning and driving forward delivery of defined workstreams, delegating tasks as required, meeting deadlines and flagging risks
  • Confidently present your own work / findings as part of a wider project team, to new and familiar stakeholders
  • Have a good understanding of the sector and market, and take a proactive approach to further development
  • Independently draft business development content, such as case studies, blogs, tender responses and proposals
  • Have a good understanding of commerciality – invoicing, margins, budgets and frameworks
  • Develop positive relationships with clients through project work and start to influence at a project level with key stakeholders

  • Advanced Excel skills, ideally with experience of financial modelling
