About you
A great ‘31tenner’ is proactive and ambitious with a good eye for detail, but above all else is passionate about social impact and working with the public sector.
We hire the person first, experience second, shaping the role around the individual. We recognise that every candidate’s experiences and background will be different. We value a broad, diverse range of perspectives.
We’re keen to hear from values-driven, ambitious individuals with:
- At least three years’ experience in property, regeneration, housing and/or development services;
- A background in property, urban planning, development, real estate or regeneration with experience working for or with local government;
- MRCIS or RTPI qualified (desirable, but not essential);
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple projects or workstreams in tandem, monitoring timelines, budget and key risks;
- Knowledge, understanding and experience of writing feasibility studies and business cases;
- Experience of carrying out and reviewing development appraisals;
- The ability to engage successfully with clients, client teams and key stakeholders, as a lead or as part of a team;
- Working independently and self-managing time and resources;
- Supporting business development, from coordinating and producing material for proposals to creating case studies and marketing content; and
- A demonstrable commitment to improving public sector and local government services.
The role
We are keen to speak to candidates who are interested in helping us to design and deliver services to local government, which:
- Supports the development of ‘places’ and helps secure future housing provision through sound strategic decision making by carrying out option appraisals and feasibility studies, generating robust business cases and accessing regional and government funds and targeted project work (e.g. to reinvigorate the high street);
- Delivers effective planning and development management, development viability, programme management and project management;
- Establishes real or virtual funds to support economic growth / recovery and other objectives;
- Generate long-term sustainable income streams or one-off receipts through better use of assets;
- Identifies opportunities and evaluates options to drive regeneration, develop new housing and support growth ambitions;
- Secures delivery expertise via complex, high-value procurement exercises; and
- Develops a strategic approach to securing investment by developing and setting up trading companies, joint ventures and partnerships.
The points above reflect our broad-ranging mission, so we don’t expect relevant experience in them all. In fact, our preferred recruits tend to have a focused CV with strong evidence of experience in some but not all areas.
