Role Overview
We’re seeking a Principal Business Analyst to join a fast‑paced, high performing global team tasked with envisioning, designing, and deploying scalable technology solutions that will help support and enhance Invesco’s Equity Investments business. This dynamic, collaborative team values your input and requires a strong foundation in technology and business processes within the investments space.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with Business Partners in the Front Office to solicit in‑depth requirements that contribute to the design, build and implementation of solutions and enhancements that align with strategic business goals.
- Prepare, review and maintain documented requirements for enhancements to systems and/or business processes, optimizing efficiency and consistency.
- Take ownership for the project management of smaller initiatives, including the provision of delivery status updates and the management of risks and issues.
- Challenge yourself and business partners to think to the future, asking can things be done differently.
- Collaborate with other investment‑related functional areas – i.e. Capital Markets, Investment Compliance, Investment Services – as well as external vendors in the execution of project delivery.
- Partner with colleagues across Technology to collaborate on cross‑functional deliverables.
- Assist the squad in providing consultative assistance to the Engineering Run/Support teams on an ad‑hoc basis.
- Develop and maintain close business relationships to forge strong partnerships.
- Help identify opportunities where technology can be an enabler or productivity tool and relay them to other technology teams for possible follow‑up actions through projects/BAU.
- Leverage data capabilities to elicit insights and build solutions to serve the investment and trading communities.
- Utilize AI skills and tools as deemed appropriate to deliver on business requirements, and in some instances involve the build/maintenance of full AI solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Asset Management, ideally, or Investment Banking as an alternative.
- Exposure to equity, fixed income and derivative instruments.
- Good understanding of the function of Order Management Systems, preferably with Charles River or a comparable platform.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to engage with partners and colleagues to understand their challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including compiling and delivering presentations and solution design documents.
- Active participant in Agile squad ceremonies, working with the Scrum Master and Product Owners to ensure backlog prioritization is correct.
- Comfortable partnering with partner BAs and Engineers to derive suitable solutions for business problems.
- Passionate about technologies, continually learning and refining your craft; appetite for taking on challenges and using new technologies.
- Strong background/education in the techniques and tools of data science and deep data analysis.
- Knowledge of AWS services, Microservices (Kubernetes, Docker), API Development and DevOps, or willingness to undertake training in these areas.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred or commensurate relevant work experience.
- Excellent verbal skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively to senior business users, IT management and internal team members.
- Excellent written skills, including ability to produce process flowcharting, requirements, project plans, and formal business solution documents.
