Your Role

The Digital Platforms team is responsible for delivering and operating the firm’s digital ecosystem across web, client servicing, and internal tools.

The team owns the end-to-end platform architecture spanning experience platforms, applications, integrations, and cloud infrastructure.

The Principal Architect is a senior individual contributor responsible for defining and leading cloud architecture across Digital Platforms.

This role combines hands‑on solution design with domain‑level architectural leadership, ensuring consistent, scalable, and secure solutions across web, servicing, and tools.

The role works closely with the firm’s central Cloud and Dev Sec Ops teams, who manage the AWS platform and pipelines, to ensure alignment and effective implementation of cloud patterns.

Acting as a technical authority, the role influences architectural decisions across teams and delivers high‑impact, complex initiatives aligned to enterprise strategy.

  • What you will be doing
  • Own and define the cloud architecture strategy for Digital Platforms across web, servicing, and internal tools, aligned to enterprise cloud direction
  • Lead the architecture and delivery of complex AWS‑based solutions, covering applications, integrations, and infrastructure
  • Design end‑to‑end architectures integrating AEM, edge/CDN platforms (e. g., Fastly), APIs, and backend cloud services
  • Establish and govern cloud standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns across Digital Platforms
  • Define and enforce non‑functional requirements including security, performance, scalability, resilience, and cost optimisation
  • Partner with central Cloud and Dev Sec Ops teams to align on AWS platform capabilities, pipelines, security controls, and operating models
  • Translate business requirements and product roadmaps into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions
  • Provide architectural oversight and assurance across multiple teams, ensuring adherence to standards and design principles
  • Mentor architects and senior engineers, contributing to the development of architectural capability and best practices across the domain
  • What you will bring
  • Extensive experience in technology with strong focus on cloud architecture and engineering
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale cloud solutions in AWS
  • Experience working across digital platforms, including web ecosystems and application integration landscapes
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a Principal‑level individual contributor, influencing across teams without direct authority
  • Experience working within centralised cloud platform and Dev Sec Ops operating models
  • Deep expertise in AWS services including compute, networking, storage, IAM, and cloud‑native architectures
  • Understanding of modern architecture patterns (microservices, API‑first, event‑driven, distributed systems)
  • Knowledge of web platform architectures, including AEM and edge delivery through CDNs such as Fastly
  • Understanding of Dev Ops practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automation
  • Grasp of security, compliance, and data protection considerations in cloud environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant cloud certifications (e. g., AWS Solutions Architect) desirable
  • Problem‑solving skills with the ability to operate independently on complex challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across distributed teams
  • Recognised technical leader and trusted advisor within their domain
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across product, engineering, and platform teams
  • Disability Confident Scheme

Applicants who opt in to the Disability Confident Scheme and meet the ‘minimum criteria’ for the role will be offered an interview.

We are committed to providing an inclusive recruitment process for all candidates who make an application.

By opting‑in to this scheme, applicants will be disclosing that they have a disability solely for the purpose of the Disability Confident Scheme.

The Disability Confident Scheme only guarantees an interview – it does not automatically mean that applicants interviewed will gain employment with Invesco at that time.
