300 North are working in partnership with a leading Facilities Management provider to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Manager for a prestigious London commercial estate.

This is a high-profile appointment supporting a flagship account occupied by globally recognised organisations, including major technology businesses and leading international law firms.

Due to the size and complexity of the estate, the business is looking to strengthen its engineering leadership team by appointing a dedicated Mechanical Engineering Manager to work alongside an established Technical Engineering Manager.

The Role

This is a leadership-focused position where you will act as the site's mechanical engineering expert, providing technical direction, operational oversight and client engagement across the estate.

You’ll be responsible for supporting a team of approximately 10 engineers operating within a dual reporting structure, including Day Engineers, Lead Engineers and Shift Engineers.

Whilst this is an off-the-tools position, you’ll be expected to have strong mechanical expertise and be the go‑to person for technical support, guidance and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities include

  • Acting as the mechanical subject matter expert across a prestigious multi-building commercial estate.
  • Leading and supporting a team of engineers, ensuring high standards of service delivery and technical excellence.
  • Providing technical guidance on HVAC, building services and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Driving compliance, statutory maintenance and PPM performance across the contract.
  • Reviewing engineering processes and challenging the status quo to improve service delivery.
  • Producing, analysing and presenting engineering performance data and reports.
  • Utilising Excel to manage maintenance performance, asset information and operational reporting.
  • Managing specialist contractors and ensuring works are delivered safely and compliantly.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and occupiers across the estate.
  • Representing the engineering team during client meetings and confidently communicating technical requirements and recommendations.
  • Supporting lifecycle planning, asset management and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

We’re looking for a technically strong Mechanical Engineering Manager who is equally comfortable leading engineers as they are engaging with demanding clients.

The successful candidate will have

  • A strong mechanical engineering background within Facilities Management or Building Services.
  • Previous experience managing engineering teams within large commercial or prestigious buildings.
  • Excellent knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), compliance and engineering best practice.
  • Strong HVAC and mechanical building services expertise.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with engineering data and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to build credibility quickly with engineering teams through strong technical knowledge.
  • Experience working within client‑facing environments where service delivery and stakeholder management are critical.
  • A proactive approach to challenging processes and driving continuous improvement.
