Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering £55,000-£75,000 per annum Permanent | Aldermaston, Berkshire We are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of civil engineering and specialist construction works on a major secure estate in Aldermaston. The position can be appointed at Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor level, depending on experience. The successful candidate will manage project costs, subcontractors, valuations, variations and commercial reporting from mobilisation through to final account. The Role Responsibilities will include: Providing commercial management across assigned construction projects. Preparing budgets, cost plans, forecasts and cash-flow reports. Producing and agreeing interim applications and valuations. Identifying, pricing and managing variations and compensation events. Procuring subcontractors and suppliers. Preparing subcontract enquiries, comparisons and recommendations. Managing subcontract accounts, payments and final accounts. Monitoring project costs, commitments, value and commercial risk. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and operational teams. Reviewing contract documents, scope, specifications and commercial obligations. Maintaining accurate cost-value reconciliation and project reporting. Supporting programme, change-control and risk-management processes. Attending client and project progress meetings. Managing commercial correspondence and contractual notices. Supporting the resolution of commercial and contractual issues. Driving the commercial close-out and final account process. Required Experience Applicants should have commercial experience within one or more of the following sectors: Civil engineering Remediation or contaminated land Demolition and enabling works Asbestos or specialist contracting Groundworks and earthworks Nuclear or defence Infrastructure and utilities Highly regulated construction environments Candidates should also have: Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor. Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, cost reporting and subcontract management. Commercial awareness and good contractual understanding. Experience working closely with construction delivery teams. Strong numerical, negotiation and communication skills. The ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities. A relevant commercial, quantity surveying or construction qualification, or equivalent industry experience. A full UK driving licence. Experience working under NEC contracts would be advantageous. Security Clearance The successful candidate will be required to undergo security clearance due to the nature of the working environment. Existing clearance is helpful but is not essential, as the employer can sponsor the appropriate clearance process.
