About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute PFI Senior Manager to lead the operational, commercial and contractual performance of a major NHS hospital PFI project. This is a high-profile leadership role with overall responsibility for protecting the interests of the Project Company, ensuring contractual compliance, delivering strong commercial performance and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders. Acting as the primary interface between the NHS Trust, FM service provider, shareholders, lenders and project partners, you will ensure the concession continues to deliver exceptional service, value and long-term performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Project Company, with accountability for governance, compliance, commercial performance and day-to-day operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the NHS Trust, FM provider, shareholders, lenders, advisers and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor contractual performance, ensuring all KPIs, service standards and contractual obligations are achieved.
- Lead contract change, dispute resolution, commercial negotiations and risk management activities.
- Develop and oversee lifecycle planning strategies to maximise long-term asset performance and value.
- Take ownership of financial management, including budgets, forecasting, financial reporting and long-term business planning.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, health & safety and contractual requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement across operational performance, governance, commercial outcomes and stakeholder engagement.
- Represent the Project Company at Board meetings and senior stakeholder forums, providing clear strategic leadership and direction.
About You
You will be an experienced senior leader with a strong track record within the PFI/PPP sector and the ability to balance commercial performance with collaborative stakeholder management. You will ideally have:
- Significant experience managing complex PFI/PPP contracts, preferably within acute healthcare or another large healthcare setting.
- A strong understanding of SPV governance, concession agreements and long-term contract management.
- Excellent commercial, financial and contractual management skills.
- Experience working closely with NHS Trusts, FM providers, investors, lenders or public sector clients.
- A sound understanding of facilities management service delivery, performance management and contract compliance.
- Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, business planning and lifecycle investment.
- Outstanding communication, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to build credibility at Board and Executive level.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
