Senior Engineering Lead


We are looking for a Senior Engineering Lead to provide technical expertise across a complex PFI healthcare contract. You will support the delivery of engineering projects, lifecycle programmes, and asset improvements while ensuring compliance, quality, and operational performance.


Working with operational teams, contractors, and stakeholders, you will review technical solutions, manage engineering risk, and help deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering services across the contract.

Key Responsibilities



  • Provide technical leadership across all engineering activities on the PFI healthcare contract.

  • Review and approve engineering specifications, designs, and project scopes.

  • Ensure engineering works are delivered in line with statutory requirements and healthcare standards.

  • Support lifecycle planning, asset replacement, and capital improvement programmes.

  • Evaluate contractor proposals and provide technical recommendations.

  • Identify and manage engineering risks, implementing practical solutions where required.

  • Work closely with operational teams, project managers, and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Provide technical support across mechanical, electrical, and building services disciplines.

  • Promote engineering best practice and drive continuous improvement across the contract.

  • Monitor project delivery to ensure quality, compliance, and minimal operational disruption.


Qualifications & Experience



  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.

  • Significant experience within Facilities Management, PFI healthcare, or other critical environments.

  • Strong technical knowledge of building services, M&E systems, and engineering infrastructure.

  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, specifications, and project documentation.

  • Excellent understanding of statutory compliance and engineering best practice.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to manage technical risk and support the delivery of complex engineering projects.

  • Previous experience within a healthcare or other critical infrastructure environment.

  • Knowledge of NHS HTM and HBN guidance.

  • Professional registration (CEng, IEng, or working towards) - desirbale

  • Experience managing lifecycle replacement programmes and capital improvement projects.
