300 North are working in partnership with a leading Facilities Management provider to recruit a

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a prestigious university campus in Stoke-on-Trent.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established on-site engineering team, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse estate, helping to ensure the safe, compliant and efficient operation of critical mechanical building services.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you'll be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and minor installation works across the university estate.

Working within a live environment, you'll ensure high standards of safety, compliance and customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on mechanical building services.
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Undertake plumbing repairs and HVAC maintenance.
  • Complete minor installation and upgrade works.
  • Support statutory compliance and health & safety requirements.
  • Work from CAFM systems to manage and close maintenance tasks.
  • Liaise with university staff, contractors and the wider FM team.
  • Participate in the on-call rota where required.

About You

We're looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience working within commercial buildings, healthcare, education or similar FM environments.

You will have

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, valves, pipework and water systems.
  • Good understanding of permits to work and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Experience using CAFM systems.
  • ACOP L8 / HSG274 Part 2 qualification is highly desirable.
  • MRI Evolution CAFM experience would be an advantage.
