Role Description
This is a full-time (4 day week) on-site CNC/Offline Programmer role based in West Bromwich. The CNC/Offline Programmer will be responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs for milling and machining operations, using CAD/CAM software to support the production of complex tooling. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting technical drawings and 3D models, selecting appropriate tools and machining strategies, and verifying programs through simulation or offline verification. The role involves collaborating closely with machinists and engineers to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe machining processes, as well as troubleshooting issues on the shop floor. The CNC/Offline Programmer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, maintain programming standards, and support the introduction of new tooling projects.
Qualifications
- Strong CNC Programming and Programming skills for milling and complex tooling production.
- Practical experience in Machining and Milling within a precision engineering or tooling environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from Technical Drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems and offline programming for multi-axis machining (e.g., 3- to 5-axis).
- Good understanding of tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and materials used in high-pressure die cast, forge, and vacuum tooling.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a focus on quality and safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively with machinists, engineers, and production teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant apprenticeship, vocational qualification, or equivalent experience in CNC machining/programming or mechanical engineering.
