This will include how to protect yourself in road rage incidents.
- Vehicle Defects & Driver Licencing – By the end of this course, students will be able to identify the types of checks that drivers need to complete on their vehicles. They will also be able to identify the main features of the driver’s licence and understand the licence coding system. Students should also be able to answer questions on safe and fuel-efficient driving and understand techniques involved in reducing fuel consumption.
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) course is a legal requirement for anyone who wants to drive lorries, buses, or coaches professionally in the UK and EU. It aims to improve road safety, maintain high driving standards, and ensure drivers are fully qualified. There are two types of Driver CPC: the Initial CPC for new drivers, and Periodic CPC for those who already hold a vocational licence. New drivers must complete the Initial CPC, which includes theory and practical tests. This is often done alongside LGV or PCV training. Professional drivers who already have their licence must complete 35 hours of Periodic CPC training every five years to stay qualified. This applies even if you’re not driving full-time.
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence course covers a range of important topics. These include vehicle safety checks, fuel-efficient driving, driver health, tachograph rules, and working time regulations. The training helps drivers stay up to date with the law, improve safety on the road, and work more efficiently. This course is ideal for both new and experienced drivers. It suits people working in haulage, logistics, public transport, and delivery. Employers often require it to meet legal and insurance standards. Whether you are just starting out or need to renew your existing Driver CPC, this course is essential. Without it, you cannot legally drive for hire or reward. Completing the training helps you stay compliant, professional, and job-ready in a competitive industry. The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence not only keeps your licence valid, but also builds your skills and confidence on the road.
