A well-established, values-led business is looking for a driven and proactive Systems & Automation Engineer to support the ongoing development, optimisation and integration of internal systems and processes across the organisation. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys improving how a business operates behind the scenes connecting systems more effectively, reducing inefficiencies, supporting smarter workflows, and helping teams make better use of technology. Industry experience would be helpful, but it is not essential. What matters most is experience working with internal business systems, a strong understanding of integrations and automation, and the ability to turn operational challenges into practical technical solutions.
Working directly with senior leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring the business’s operational infrastructure is robust, scalable and aligned with its evolving needs.
The Role
This role will focus on improving the way systems work across the business, helping departments operate more efficiently, and supporting the implementation and adoption of new technologies. A key part of the role will involve working with an existing CRM platform, as well as other internal systems and third-party tools, to improve workflows, reduce manual processes and support reporting. This is a role for someone who can both think practically and deliver hands-on. You will need to be comfortable coding, working with APIs, and building automation solutions that are useful, compliant and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Improve system integration across the business
- Enhance efficiency across departments through better workflows and automation
- Support the implementation, optimisation and adoption of new technologies
- Work with the existing CRM and other internal systems to improve data flow and day-to-day usability
- Build and maintain API integrations between platforms
- Use automation tools such as n8n to streamline manual processes
- Develop internal tools, automations and reporting solutions that save employees time
- Help identify opportunities where AI and automation can add genuine operational value
- Ensure solutions are secure, well-documented and aligned with business needs
- Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
About You
You are adaptable, organised and proactive, with a genuine interest in systems, automation and improving business operations through technology. You do not need to come from any particular sector, but you should be comfortable working closely with operational teams, understanding business processes, and translating needs into practical improvements. You will likely suit this role if you enjoy variety, can work independently, and are keen to grow your expertise while making an immediate impact.
Essential Experience
- Experience working with internal business systems, process improvement, or systems optimisation
- Strong experience with API integrations
- Experience with React
- n8n experience is essential
- Ability to code and build hands-on solutions, not just manage third parties
- Good understanding of automation tools, workflows and system integration
- A foundational understanding of AI and where it can be used practically in a business environment
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with non-technical stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience with CRM systems used in operational businesses
- Experience in a multi-site, service-led or operationally complex environment
- Experience building reports, dashboards, or internal tools
- Understanding of compliance, data handling and operational risk in business systems
