Job Summary
The Lead Producer owns a major project pillar such as Gameplay, World, Narrative, Tech, or Co‑Development. They are accountable for planning, processes, staffing, risks, and delivery across the entire pillar. Lead Producers partner closely with Directors to translate creative and technical goals into executable development plans, while managing Senior Producers and serving as core members of the project's leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Pillar Ownership & Strategy: Own the full planning and execution strategy for a major project pillar. Define pillar workflows, milestones, delivery structures, and quality expectations. Align pillar priorities with Directors, the Production Director, and the Executive Producer. Build and maintain multi‑milestone plans, capacity forecasts, and long‑range schedules.
- Cross‑Discipline & Cross‑Domain Leadership: Lead Senior Producers and Producers across multiple domains within the pillar. Ensure alignment across Design, Engineering, Art, QA, Narrative, and other disciplines. Manage cross‑domain dependencies and resolve high‑impact risks. Drive decision‑making around scope, trade‑offs, and delivery approach.
- Co‑Development Leadership: Set clear expectations, workflows, and integration points for co‑development partners. Ensure external partners follow H13 task standards, documentation expectations, and communication norms. Manage cross‑studio reviews, dependencies, and integration planning.
- Product & Player Understanding: Ensure pillar work aligns with overall product vision and player experience goals. Partner with Directors to evaluate design decisions, quality targets, and player impacts. Advocate for the player in planning, prioritisation, and trade‑off discussions.
- Communication & Reporting: Provide structured reporting to project leadership, the Production Director, and the EP. Represent the pillar in milestone reviews, project check‑ins, and studio presentations. Maintain transparency and accuracy across Slack, Confluence, Jira / Flow, and planning tools.
- Leadership, Team Health & Mentoring: Mentor & manage Senior Producers and support their development into future Leads. Encourage healthy, sustainable workflows across pillar teams. Support staffing decisions and hiring for the pillar. Promote a culture of clarity, accountability, and collaboration.
Essential Skills, Attributes and Experience
- Significant experience leading large discipline‑led teams or multi‑domain feature teams as Senior Producer.
- Strong strategic planning and risk management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑disciplinary teams toward milestone delivery.
- Clear communication and influence with Directors, project leadership, and external partners.
- Strong understanding of player needs and system integration across the game.
Highly Desirable
- Experience delivering large‑scale AAA systems or features.
- Familiarity with distributed teams and multi‑studio development pipelines.
- Expertise in production process design and methodology.
- Experience managing Senior Producers and mentoring production talent.
