- Inquisitive
- Open to challenge and be challenged
- Taking initiative
- Accountable
You have experience with various types of software and infrastructure and are passionate about helping to improve the quality of products you work on, through questions, curiosity and exploration. Our projects and clients are diverse, so what we really look for are people driven to develop and expand their skillset and knowledge.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join one of our collaborative engineering teams, working on a large-scale, business-critical platform within a fast-paced Agile delivery environment. This is an opportunity to join an automation-focused team delivering quality across complex applications and services. Working within a pod-based structure, you'll collaborate closely with developers, business analysts and fellow Quality Engineers to design, execute and maintain robust automated test solutions throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll play a key role in ensuring quality is embedded from development through to production, contributing to test planning, exploratory testing, defect management and continuous improvement. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor others, share best practices and help shape the team's quality engineering approach within a supportive and collaborative environment.
You'll need to be...
- Deep experience with automation, specifically a commercial background developing automated test frameworks using Java, Selenium and Serenity.
- Experienced with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
- Commercially experienced testing REST APIs, using tools such as REST Assured and Postman.
- Comfortable working with Java Spring Boot applications and mocking frameworks such as WireMock.
- Experienced integrating automated testing into CI/CD delivery pipelines and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Confident designing effective test cases, performing exploratory testing and carrying out root cause analysis to investigate defects.
- Comfortable working with PostgreSQL and validating data using SQL queries.
- Experience creating and maintaining test data, including working with structured formats such as JSON.
- Familiar with cloud-native and containerised environments, including technologies such as AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience using engineering and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and Kibana to manage defects, report progress and support delivery.
- Knowledge of accessibility, non-functional or performance testing would be advantageous.
- A collaborative communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build strong relationships across cross-functional delivery teams.
- Planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining high quality standards.
- Adaptable, proactive and comfortable working across Agile delivery environments while taking ownership of delivering high-quality software.
What we can offer you...
- Leadership pathways tailored to your personal and professional development, providing clear direction for your career at 2i.
- 26 days annual leave, plus the option to buy or sell up to five additional days.
- Private Healthcare alongside a range of wellbeing benefits including gym memberships, counselling services and Cycle to Work schemes.
- Annual performance bonus of up to 10%, linked to both individual and company performance.
- Flexible hybrid and remote working across the UK.
- The opportunity to work alongside highly skilled Quality Engineers on modern cloud technologies while continuing to develop your technical and leadership capabilities.
What if you're a partial fit?
Curious? We'd love to hear from you. We don't believe in the "perfect" hire. What we do believe in is building diverse teams with different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences. If you're passionate about Quality Engineering, eager to learn and excited by solving complex technical challenges, we'd encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet every requirement.

How to prepare for a job interview at 2i
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If 2i uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
✨Showcase Your Projects
Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.
✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions
While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
