Our client is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in Cobham. The successful candidate will provide essential support in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions and assisting with day-to-day accounting activities. This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a willingness to develop their accounting skills within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims accurately
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable, including timely payment processing and reconciliation
- Maintain and update financial records and spreadsheets
- Support month-end and year-end accounting activities, including bank reconciliations
- Liaise with suppliers and clients regarding payment queries
- Assist with preparation of VAT returns and other statutory reporting
- Support the finance team with ad hoc administrative tasks as required
- Help ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar finance role is preferred
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Discretion and integrity when handling confidential financial information
- 33 days annual leave including bank holidays
