Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Performance & Analysis
- Produce and own monthly management accounts with clear commercial commentary and analysis.
- Analyse revenue, gross profit, margins, overheads, and profitability across the business.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Assess profitability by client, division, sector, and revenue stream.
- Provide commercial insight and challenge to support informed decision-making.
- Support initiatives aimed at increasing revenue, improving margins, and driving profitability.
Forecasting, Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Develop and maintain rolling forecasts covering revenue, profitability, and cash flow.
- Support annual budgeting and longer-term business planning.
- Build financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate commercial opportunities and risks.
- Provide forward-looking financial insight to support growth and investment decisions.
Management Reporting & Business Partnering
- Produce accurate and timely board and management reporting packs.
- Present financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with leadership and operational teams to improve commercial performance.
- Translate complex financial information into clear and actionable recommendations.
Cash Flow & Financial Control
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital performance.
- Monitor debtor performance and support initiatives to improve cash collection.
- Oversee VAT returns, statutory reporting, and audit preparation.
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure accuracy of financial records.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation, and financial processes.
- Enhance the quality, consistency, and visibility of financial data.
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards to support business performance monitoring.
- Support the ongoing development of finance systems as the business scales.
Experience & Skills Required:
Essential
- Qualified or part-qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Strong experience within management accounting, commercial finance, or finance business partnering.
- Excellent financial analysis, forecasting, and modelling skills.
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful commercial recommendations.
- Strong understanding of profitability, margin analysis, and business performance metrics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Desirable
- Previous experience analysing customer, contract, or divisional profitability.
- Experience supporting pricing decisions and commercial strategy.
- Exposure to integrated finance, CRM, or timesheet systems.
- Experience supporting a growing or scaling organisation.
- Proven track record of improving profitability, working capital, or operational efficiency.
