2gether Support Solutions is a Facilities and Estates services company providing support to healthcare professionals caring for over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. 2gether provides vital services including maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.

Porters are the heartbeat of NHS hospitals, making sure crucial goods and items are delivered where they are needed most. They also make sure patients are at the right place at the right time to get the treatment they need. You will provide essential support in the hospital environment by safely and efficiently transporting patients, equipment, and materials to various departments, ensuring a high standard of care and operational efficiency.

This is a full time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, including some weekends, bank holidays and nights.

Main Duties
  • Safely transport patients to and from wards, departments, and operating theatres.
  • Move medical equipment, supplies, and specimens between departments.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of transport equipment.
  • Assist with the handling of deceased patients in a respectful manner.
  • Deliver mail, lab results, and other documents as required.
  • Comply with the Trust infection and control and health and safety policies.
  • Liaise with colleagues and patients.

  • Physically fit, able to perform tasks involving lifting and moving patients and equipment.
  • Clear verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Strong teamwork, reliability, compassion, and sensitivity to patient privacy.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and complete documentation.
  • Proficient level of reading, verbal, and written English.
