2gether Support Solutions is a Facilities and Estates services company providing support to healthcare professionals caring for over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. 2gether provides vital services including maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Technician to join our Estates team. This key role is responsible for delivering high quality building fabric maintenance, compliance activities, and reactive repairs across our estate. Working largely unsupervised, you’ll carry out a wide range of tasks that support the safety, integrity, and functionality of our facilities, from routine maintenance to major refurbishments. The role requires strong technical knowledge, a relevant trade qualification (e.g. Carpentry), and the ability to make sound decisions independently. Working Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. You will be based on site but travel can be expected between our hospitals, so a full UK driving licence is required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across building fabric, including:
- Wall and floor tiling, roofing, tarmac repairs
- Joinery, locksmithing, and refurbishment of furniture, windows, and doors
- Maintain and inspect fire doors and fire prevention systems (in line with HTM regulations)
- Operate the CAFM system to manage job updates, time tracking, and documentation
- Respond promptly to emergencies using Trust communication devices
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and contractors, ensuring works are carried out efficiently
- Provide technical advice and mentorship to apprentices and junior staff
- Maintain safety standards and comply with all Health and Safety legislation
Qualifications
- Recognised qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent) in a building trade (e.g. Carpentry)
- Completion of a structured training programme (minimum 3 years)
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Woodworking and rotating machinery
- Joinery techniques and drainage systems
- Roofing, vinyl flooring, windows and doors, and basic locksmithing
