Overview
We are working with a well-established and growing specialist manufacturing business in Birmingham to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take on a highly visible role within the organisation, working closely with the CFO and playing a key part in shaping the company's financial performance and future growth.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in managing and reporting on the company’s financial performance, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports, including forecasts
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Oversee cash management, including bank reconciliations and cashflow reporting
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance
- Coordinate stock takes and reconcile book stock with physical counts
- Lead month-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
- Support external audits
What We're Looking For
- Fully qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with relevant post-qualification experience in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and financial regulations
- Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP) with experience in financial modelling, automation, scenario analysis, and KPI dashboard reporting
- Proficient with accounting software (Sage 200 preferred but not essential)
- Proactive self-starter with experience managing a small finance team
- Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent organisational, planning, and time-management abilities
- Effective communicator with strong analytical skills
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
