A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant to join a growing, specialist manufacturing business based in Birmingham, working as part of a small and friendly finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in managing and reporting on the company’s financial performance, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports, including forecasts
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Oversee cash management, including bank reconciliations and cashflow reporting
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Coordinate stock takes and reconcile book stock with physical counts
  • Lead month-end closing processes
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
  • Support external audits

What We're Looking For

  • Fully qualified ACCA or ACA accountant with relevant post-qualification experience in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS and financial regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUP) with experience in financial modelling, automation, scenario analysis, and KPI dashboard reporting
  • Proficient with accounting software (Sage 200 preferred)
  • Proactive self-starter with experience managing a small finance team
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and time-management abilities
  • Effective communicator with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
