Do you want to say you helped put the next generation UK fighter jet into service? We’re looking for B1 and/or B2 Licensed Engineers to join our newly created team at Boscombe Down to deliver an exciting engineering programme that will see our Flight Test Aircraft contribute to the development of the UK’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS). 2Excel is a high-performance aviation services business that specialises in doing difficult things well.

Since 2019 we have been working on our Excalibur project; a flight test aircraft created as a flying laboratory for combat air technology. It is part of the UK’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS), which will include the core fighter being developed under the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), as well as a broader range of capabilities such as uncrewed aircraft, information systems and weapon systems. As we enter the next phase of this project, we are seeking exceptional B1 and/or B2 Licensed Engineers to join our team to support the engineering programme at Boscombe Down in Wiltshire.

About the role:

Our Licensed Engineers play a crucial role in ensuring the airworthiness of our aircraft, performing maintenance tasks, and conducting inspections in compliance with regulatory standards and company procedures. Reporting to the Station Engineer, this role will generally work Monday to Friday with flexibility to accommodate emergency situations, unscheduled maintenance or project deadlines.

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks plus modifications, on our 757 aircraft, including inspections, repairs, and modifications, in accordance with approved data and regulations.
  • Perform troubleshooting and fault diagnosis to identify and rectify defects in aircraft systems, avionics, and components.
  • Carry out aircraft certification and release to service activities as a B1 and/or B2 Licensed Engineer, ensuring all work is completed to the required standards and documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and support staff to achieve efficient workflow and minimise downtime for aircraft.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance within the team.
  • Flexibility to work at other 2Excel sites in line with business need.

About you:

You’ll be an experienced Licensed Aircraft Engineer, holding a CAA Part 66 B1 and/or B2 Licence. Experience of large aircraft is essential, experience and/or type rating and recency on Boeing 757 would be extremely advantageous. You’ll have experience of working in a Part 145 MRO environment, preferably with a good mix of line, base and modification experience. You’ll have a strong knowledge of aircraft systems, avionics, and powerplants, with the ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings. You’ll have excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality outputs. You’ll be an effective communicator, both verbal and written, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You will also need to be eligible to hold a UK Security Clearance which is a requirement of this role.

In return we can offer a generous salary, 25 days holiday per year from day one plus bank holidays, 5% matched Pension scheme, Group Life Insurance, Health and Wellbeing benefits including Health Care Cash Plan and an EAP, and much more.
