Stagecoach is hiring a Trainee Bus Driver (including Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification) based at our Fenstanton depot in Cambridge. The role requires no prior bus driving experience; you will receive fully paid training to gain your PCV licence and an externally recognised Level 2 Bus Driver Apprenticeship. Training pay is £12.21 per hour for 6‑8 weeks. Upon completion you can earn an annualised salary of £36,036 based on a 42‑hour week at £16.50 per hour, with overtime rates of £18.98 (weekdays) and £21.45 (weekends & bank holidays). Shift patterns include early, mid‑day and late.
Responsibilities
- Complete Stagecoach’s industry‑leading training and secure your PCV licence, continue CPC training and professional development as part of the Level 2 apprenticeship.
- Drive our fleet of buses safely, efficiently and confidently across Cambridgeshire.
- Provide exceptional customer service, welcoming passengers, answering questions, and ensuring a safe, respectful journey for all.
- Work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Maintain a positive, friendly attitude while representing Stagecoach.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 18.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Right to work in the UK (minimum 183 days in the UK as per DVLA requirement).
- Patient, safe, courteous approach to driving and customer service.
- Positive and friendly attitude, with a genuine desire to learn and support passengers.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and participate in ongoing training.
