As a Cargo Charter Broker at 26AVIATION, you’ll be operating in one of the most exciting, fast-paced, and commercially rewarding sectors in aviation. You’ll be responsible for building, developing, and managing your own portfolio of customers who require tailored air charter solutions, from moving urgent parts on a ‘go-now’ basis, to coordinating urgent humanitarian flights into crisis zones. Success in this role depends on your ability to pick up the phone, build relationships, and close deals. You’ll be expected to make regular proactive sales calls, turn cold prospects into regular customers, and consistently look for new opportunities to grow your reputation in the business.
This is a commercial role, but it’s also operational; you’ll see each charter through from start to finish, handling everything from sourcing aircraft and negotiating contracts to flight watching and overseeing execution, including during unsociable hours when necessary. You’ll also travel domestically and internationally, visiting customers, attending trade shows, and even flight ‘repping’ or ‘riding’ for your own charter movements, when required.
This role is built for those who thrive on energy, pace, and the collaboration that comes from being part of a close-knit, high-performing team, exactly what our brand new central Wimbledon HQ was designed for. If you’re ambitious, hungry for success, naturally commercial, and see every call as a chance to win, then we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively build your own sustainable portfolio of cargo charter customers by making regular outbound sales calls in line with the company’s commercial targets.
- Independently research and identify new charter business opportunities using LinkedIn, industry publications, websites, referrals, and other channels.
- Handle inbound charter enquiries from start to finish including aircraft sourcing, quoting, customer negotiations, closing deals, and executing contracts.
- Oversee the full operational and commercial process of each charter booking from confirmation through to flight completion, ensuring smooth communication between the customer and operator, including during unsociable hours when required.
- Proactively arrange video and/or face-to-face meetings with prospective customers to promote the company’s services.
- Travel within the UK and internationally to oversee flights, visit customers, and attend trade events or exhibitions as needed.
- Add new charter airlines to the company’s operator database and ensure that all existing supplier information is regularly reviewed and updated.
- Participate in the company’s duty roster, handling urgent out-of-hours calls and responding to time-sensitive enquiries and bookings.
- Use your initiative to stay informed about the air charter industry, including monitoring competitor activity, market trends, and regulatory updates to identify potential opportunities.
- Adhere to all aviation regulatory standards and internal compliance procedures relevant to the charter industry.
- Keep up to date with major global developments such as natural disasters, geopolitical shifts, and aviation industry news, in case charter services are urgently required in response.
Qualifications:
- A proven track record of exceeding sales targets and consistently delivering results in a commercial environment.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to think strategically and solve problems under pressure.
- Willingness and flexibility to work unsociable hours, weekends, and outside the 9–5 when required, our industry runs around the clock.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with a sound understanding of commercial risk.
- A fast learner with the drive to develop an in-depth understanding of cargo aircraft, industry terminology, and global air charter operations.
- A collaborative team player who actively contributes to a positive and performance-driven culture.
- The ambition and confidence to grow a wide-reaching network across the global cargo charter sector.
- Fluency in a second language (spoken or written).
- Working knowledge of CRM platforms.
- A strong understanding of Microsoft Windows 11 and cloud-based IT tools.
