About Us

We are a leading specialist contractor delivering complex demolition, enabling works, structural alterations, and heavy structural "cut & carve" schemes across challenging inner-city London sites.

Job Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial ownership of complex demolition and structural alteration projects from pre-construction through to final accounts. Unlike standard build projects, you will navigate the unique commercial variables of high-risk structural activities, temporary works, waste/scrap metal recycling credits, and rapidly changing on-site conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Management: Manage the full commercial lifecycle of high-profile demolition and major structural alteration / cut & carve projects.
  • Variations & Change Control: Identify, price, and negotiate variations resulting from complex temporary works, unforeseen site conditions, and structural design revisions.
  • Subcontractor Management: Procure, manage, and settle accounts for specialist subcontractors (e.g., temporary works propping, diamond drilling, scaffolding).
  • Valuations & Cash Flow: Prepare and submit monthly valuations, cost-value reconciliations (CVRs), and cash flow forecasts for senior management.
  • Contract Administration: Administer JCT and NEC contracts, ensuring all notices, variations, and claims are legally compliant and submitted on time.
  • Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with our Project Managers to bridge the gap between site delivery milestones and commercial profitability.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant commercial construction discipline (RICS chartership is a plus but not essential).
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor specifically within the UK demolition, enabling works, or specialist structural frame sector.
  • Deep commercial understanding of structural alterations, temporary works propping, facade retention, and concrete/steel cut & carve schemes.
  • Strong familiarity with managing the unique cost codes of demolition, including salvage credits, hazardous waste disposal, and heavy plant logistics.
  • Demonstrable experience handling contract variations under tight inner-city London logistics and structural constraints.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and Excel skills.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive base salary of £75,000 - £95,000 (negotiable based on structural alteration portfolio).
  • Company vehicle or generous car allowance.
  • Comprehensive corporate pension scheme.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Performance-related bonus scheme.
