Position Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Lead Design Engineer are to perform and direct design engineering activities in support of 23XI Racing teams, as directed by the Senior Director of Planning and Operations. These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, directing the development of technical drawings, 3D models, and design packages for manufacturing that meet industry standards while ensuring the final deliverable product meets all required specifications and performance criteria. The Lead Design Engineer will also be responsible for developing and implementing standard design engineering practices and processes that align with the company’s objectives and targets as well as any applicable industry standards.
The employee may be required to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously including setting and managing project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of all Engineering Projects. The Lead Design Engineer will collaborate with 23XI race teams, technical alliance partners, vendors, and manufacturers as required, to ensure high level directives and technical goals are translated into actionable engineering designs that align with the desired objectives and outcomes and are fully supported and integrated into final 23XI race cars and/or support systems. The Lead Design Engineer may also work closely with third party contractors or consultants engaged by the Company. At the direction of Company Management, the employee may receive project related guidance, technical input, and coordination from such contractors; however, all reporting relationships, performance management, and final work direction remain solely with the Company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage, facilitate, the design engineering needs of the competition department
- Manage mid to long term projects from start to finish
- Work across departments to solve technical problems and develop standard engineering practices and methods and operating procedures to improve vehicle quality and performance while mitigating risk
- Work with race teams and leadership group to ensure engineering development needs and requests are implemented in a timely manner
- When requested by manager, work with end-users to understand department needs, seek engineering solutions to fulfill needs, make purchase proposals, and submit budget requests
- Prioritize engineering support requests per feedback from team managers, and coordinate design and manufacturing activities
- Manage and coach the Junior design engineers, including prioritizing design requests per feedback from managers
- Be and remain familiar with industry standard engineering concepts and practices. Become familiar with NASCAR rules, technical requirements, standard practices.
- Represent 23XI Racing in a professional manner at all times
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Desired Education, Skills, Experience, and Abilities
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of high-level mechanical design experience and proficiency with industry standard CAD software. NX, Creo, or SolidWorks preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including MS Word, MS Excel, MS OneNote, and MS Outlook
- Knowledge of NASCAR rules and regulations is a plus
- Knowledge of race car preparation, parts & piece preparation is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of standard engineering, mechanical, and fabrication practices and processes
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to assess and react to situations in a fast-paced stressful environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Strong management and leadership skills required
- Ability to communicate and interact with executive management as well as personnel of all levels required
