About the Role

Successful candidates will provide safe, supportive, and nurturing care for children and young people aged 8 to 21. Working as part of a skilled and caring team, you will help young people build resilience, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes through guidance, structure, and role modelling. This is a full-time, permanent position involving a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleepovers, across residential homes in the Falkirk area.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in line with each young person's care plan.
  • Act as a Key Worker, offering consistent support, advocacy, and guidance.
  • Safeguard the welfare of children and young people in line with relevant legislation and local authority policies.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive daily routines.
  • Support participation in education, recreation, and community activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusting relationships with young people, colleagues, and families.
  • Contribute to care reviews, meetings, and accurate record keeping.
  • Promote structure, stability, and emotional wellbeing within the home.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies to provide coordinated support.
  • Participate in training, supervision, and reflective practice to enhance professional development.

Essential Requirements

  • HNC in social care and SVQ Level 3 in Care (Children and Young People).
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience in Residential Childcare or a similar social care setting.
  • Sound knowledge of the role and responsibilities of a Residential Childcare Worker.
  • Understanding of the SSSC Employee Code of Conduct.

Desirable

  • Educated to SQA standard (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to undertake all required training.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including sleepovers.

  • Effective communication with colleagues, agencies, children, and families.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Initiative and flexibility in a dynamic care environment.
  • Accurate reporting and record keeping to a high standard.
