We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Children & Families Social Worker to join a dynamic team within Midlothian. This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner who is passionate about safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering high‑quality statutory social work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied Children & Families caseload in line with service priorities
- Undertake assessments using GIRFEC and SHANARRI wellbeing indicators
- Complete child protection investigations, risk assessments, and safety planning
- Prepare and present reports for case conferences, children’s hearings, and court when required
- Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, and third‑sector partners
- Develop child‑centred plans that promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes
- Maintain accurate case notes and comply with statutory duties under Scottish legislation
Requirements
- Degree / Diploma in Social Work
- SSSC registration
- Experience in statutory Children & Families practice (e.g., CP, LAC, Duty, Assessment)
- Strong analytical, report‑writing, and risk‑management skills
- Confident working under pressure and managing complex caseloads
- PVG membership (or willingness to apply)
