Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week

About the Role: 21HSC are recruiting for a Peripatetic Support and Development Worker on behalf of an organisation providing care and support services. This role focuses on enhancing the lives of adults (16+) with learning disabilities or additional support needs. The service offers day opportunities where individuals are supported to learn and develop a variety of independent living skills. The successful candidate will promote independence, well-being, and inclusion through both one-to-one and group support, ensuring that each individual is empowered to achieve their goals.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide respectful support that promotes dignity, choice, and control.
  • Motivate and encourage individuals to achieve personal goals.
  • Act as a key worker for several service users, completing accurate records and reviews.
  • Support with personal care needs when required.
  • Plan and deliver activities such as cookery, crafts, and gardening.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, guardians, and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Promote person-centred approaches across all services.
  • Contribute to team meetings, training, and development days.
  • Understand and follow safeguarding legislation, policies, and reporting procedures.
  • Work in line with professional codes of practice.
  • Undertake other relevant duties as directed by the Service Coordinator.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Minimum of 1 years experience in a care or support role (ideally with adults with learning disabilities and/or autism).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong record-keeping and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently using initiative, and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Confident in using technology for recording and sharing information.
  • Approachable, respectful, and committed to promoting equality and inclusion.

Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • SVQ Level 2 in Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Full driving licence.
  • Experience of key working and support planning.
  • Knowledge of person-centred approaches.
  • Experience of working with families or carers of service users.
