About the Role
21 Health and Social Care (21HSC) are a leading health and social care recruitment agency currently recruiting for experienced and motivated Children & Families Social Worker to join a Practice Team on a locum basis within a progressive Scottish local authority setting. Within this team, social workers hold longer-term cases, providing consistent relationship-based support to children and families. There is no duty requirement.
The caseload includes:
- Child Protection
- Looked After Children at Home
- Permanence planning (including kinship and adoption planning)
This is a rewarding opportunity for a practitioner who thrives on meaningful, sustained work with children and families and is confident managing complex risk and planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of longer-term statutory cases.
- Undertake child protection investigations and participate in case conferences.
- Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop outcome-focused plans.
- Support children who are looked after at home, ensuring robust multi-agency planning.
- Progress permanence planning in line with Scottish legislation and best practice.
- Prepare high-quality reports for hearings and court, including attendance at the Scottish Childrens Reporter Administration where required.
- Work in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals to safeguard and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification recognised in Scotland).
- Registered (or eligible for registration) with the Scottish Social Services Council.
- Proven experience in Children & Families statutory work.
- Strong knowledge of Scottish child care legislation and practice frameworks.
- Experience in child protection, looked after children, and permanence planning.
- Ability to manage risk and complexity with confidence and professionalism.
- PVG membership (or willingness to obtain).
