We are recruiting an experienced Locum Social Worker to join a Children & Families (CHAD) Team within Scottish Borders. This role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful, relationship-based practice supporting children and young people with additional needs and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a statutory Children & Families social work service within a disability-focused team
  • Undertake assessments of need and risk, developing outcome-focused plans
  • Provide direct intervention to children, young people, and families in the community
  • Manage a complex mixed caseload, achieving positive outcomes
  • Monitor, review, and update Child's Plans effectively
  • Work at the point of crisis, prioritising child welfare at all times
  • Support children to remain with family where safe, including preventing breakdown or reunification
  • Progress permanence planning where required
  • Work in partnership with multi-agency services and apply GIRFEC principles
  • Maintain accurate records and case management in line with statutory requirements
  • Contribute to team learning, mentoring colleagues, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, BA/MA Social Work or equivalent)
  • Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council
  • Experience within Children & Families and/or disability services
  • Strong assessment, risk management, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively
  • Enhanced PVG (or willingness to obtain)
