About the Role:

21HSC are recruiting for a Development Worker who will play a key role in delivering high-quality employability and mentoring programmes for young people and adults aged 14-25. This is a rewarding and varied role, focused on supporting individuals to access, engage with, and sustain participation in integrated employability pathways and one-to-one mentoring support. The successful candidate will contribute to shaping services, empowering individuals, and helping them progress towards independence, education, or employment.

Working as part of a dedicated and supportive team, you will deliver accredited training, coordinate mentoring relationships, and build strong partnerships with external organisations to enhance opportunities and outcomes for those accessing services. Role and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and support the development of accredited employability training programmes for young people, adults, and volunteers.
  • Support individuals to create and complete tailored action plans and assessments as part of their employability journey.
  • Coordinate mentor matches and provide ongoing support to both mentees and volunteer mentors.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with external partners, including statutory and voluntary organisations, to promote and enhance services.
  • Maintain accurate case records, monitoring and evaluation data using relevant systems and databases.
  • Work towards agreed targets, ensuring outcomes and progressions are recorded in line with compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all individuals in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with other agencies and practitioners to support an integrated service approach.

Creativity and Approach:

  • Deliver flexible, responsive support tailored to the changing needs of individuals.
  • Encourage and empower young people to play a positive role in their own development and transition to independence.
  • Contribute ideas and work collaboratively with management to improve service delivery and outcomes.
  • Work within the ethos of helping people to help themselves.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience working with young people and/or adults in an employability, mentoring, or support setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to support individuals with goal setting, planning, and progression.
  • Experience of partnership working and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and using case management systems.
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and working with vulnerable groups.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
