Salary: £34,119.41 £37,261.12 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Sleepovers: £65 per sleepover shift
21 Health & Social Care are recruiting on behalf of Ochil Tower School for an experienced and dedicated Assistant House Manager to join their residential care team.
Ochil Tower School offers a unique, person-centred approach to caring for and educating children and young people with complex additional support needs. Based within a picturesque seven-acre campus, Ochil Tower is a non-denominational residential school supporting children and young people aged 8 to 18.
The school provides a 52-week residential provision, offering consistency, stability and opportunities for learning throughout the year. As part of the wider Camphill Community, Ochil Tower is committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where every young person is supported to thrive and reach their full potential.
This is an exciting opportunity for a resilient, positive and empathetic care professional with experience supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or social, emotional or behavioural needs.
As Assistant House Manager, you will work closely with the House Coordinator as a key member of the leadership team within the residential house. You will provide leadership, care and support to the young people while also supporting, supervising and developing residential care workers, co-workers and volunteers.
You will act as a key support to the House Coordinator and will take responsibility for the house in their absence, ensuring high standards of care, education and wellbeing are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Support the House Coordinator with the leadership and operational management of the residential house.
Take responsibility for the house in the absence of the House Coordinator.
Provide leadership, support and supervision to residential care workers, co-workers and volunteers.
Provide high-quality, person-centred care and education to children and young people.
Act as a key worker where required.
Support the development and implementation of individual SHANARRI Care and Education Plans, SMART aims, review reports and annual reports.
Create a nurturing, homely and supportive environment where young people feel safe, respected, included and valued.
Support young people to develop their confidence, independence, skills and self-esteem.
Promote the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators, ensuring young people are supported to be safe, healthy, active, nurtured, achieving, responsible, respected and included.
Provide structure, routine and clear boundaries while acting as a positive role model.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and continually improve standards of care and education.
Liaise with families and external professionals, including social workers, educational psychologists and medical professionals.
Attend young people's reviews when required.
Support the delivery of the school's 24-hour curriculum.
Engage fully in community life and contribute to the wider Ochil Tower community.
Ensure practice is consistent with the SSSC Code of Conduct and relevant standards.
Participate in reflective practice, supervision, training and professional development.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a genuine passion for working with young people and who is confident providing care, support and leadership within a busy residential environment.
SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 7, or equivalent.
Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Experience working with young people with learning disabilities and/or social, emotional or behavioural issues.
Resilience and the ability to respond positively to challenging behaviours.
Excellent communication skills.
A flexible approach to meet the needs of young people, the care team and the wider school community.
An empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
A strong work ethic and commitment to providing high-quality care.
The ability to engage in reflective practice.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask, prioritise and remain effective in a busy environment.
A positive, open and honest approach.
A good sense of humour.
The ability and willingness to participate in outdoor activities including hill walking, cycling and sports.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications
SVQ 4 Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 9, or a willingness to work towards this.
BA (Hons) Social Work or equivalent.
HNC Social Care.
A qualification that meets the requirements for full SSSC registration.
Knowledge of Social Pedagogy.
Previous experience working within a residential setting.
Leisure, recreational or outdoor activity skills.
Working Pattern
The role operates on a two-week rolling rota, with every second weekend off. Working hours are dependent on the needs of the school and agreed in consultation with the House Coordinator. The role also includes sleepover shifts.
