Position Overview: We are hiring an experienced Senior Account Handler to join our high‑performing team and play a key role in delivering exceptional insurance solutions to our corporate clients. In this position, you will manage a dedicated book of business comprising clients within the Real Estate and Construction sectors. You will be responsible for overseeing renewals, managing mid‑term adjustments, and providing informed, insightful advice to ensure our clients receive the highest standard of service.

Responsibilities:
- Manage a dedicated book of business comprising clients within the Real Estate and Construction sectors.
- Oversee renewals, manage mid‑term adjustments, and provide informed, insightful advice.
- Assist in achieving Group/Division client retention targets by providing excellent service.
- Liaise with the Client Director/Account Executive to ensure an appropriate renewal strategy and attend client meetings as necessary, acting on meeting points.
- Undertake market exercise to establish the most competitive terms available.
- Acquire renewal terms and assist in presenting them to clients.
- Issue renewal documentation in line with contract certainty.
- Ensure premiums are collected prior to the commencement of cover in line with Howden procedures.
- Handle all queries, written or by telephone, professionally and process them effectively per service standards.
- Record all relevant information, correspondence, and documentation on Acturis and use the diary system effectively.
- Produce accurate and professional documentation at all times using relevant Howden templates.
- Process adjustments in line with procedures, including notifying insurers, issuing revised documentation, and collecting additional premiums.
- Actively cross‑sell products from other Divisions.
- Liaise with and assist other branches and Group Resources as necessary.
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of all the main classes of General Insurance and the CII’s Code of Ethics and GDPR.
- Minimum of 3 years commercial insurance experience, ideally within the Real Estate or Construction sector.
- Acturis knowledge.
Skills:
- Excellent technical insurance skills (assessed by regular in‑house testing).
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to process work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Excellent client service, negotiation and broking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to gather and analyse client information.
- Ability to identify and respond appropriately to an individual client’s level of understanding.
- Ability to persuade and influence others.
- Knowledge and experience of Acturis (desirable).
Qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- A level (desirable).
- Certificate in Insurance (desirable).
