We are pleased to be recruiting for an experienced Production / Works Manager to join our clients busy team. Our client is a leading manufacturer, supplying high quality engineered components to a wide range of industries. The main purpose of the role is to oversee day-to-day operations, drive performance and ensure manufacturing output meets the highest standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily production activities, ensuring output targets, quality standards and delivery deadlines are consistently met
- Lead, motivate and develop production teams, promoting a positive and high-performance culture
- Plan and allocate workloads, ensuring efficient use of labour, machinery and materials
- Monitor production KPIs and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
- Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with health & safety regulations and company policies
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering and Planning teams to resolve issues and optimise workflow
- Manage staffing levels, training needs and performance reviews within the production department
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes, equipment and working practices
- Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure machinery is operating safely and effectively
- Support senior management with reporting, forecasting and operational planning
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a Production Manager, Works Manager or similar leadership role
- Strong background in engineering or manufacturing (essential)
- Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead and develop teams
- Solid understanding of production planning, workflow and process optimisation
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S or other continuous improvement methods (advantageous)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach
- Confident communicator able to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels
