On behalf of our global engineering client, 2020 Recruitment is seeking a Shipping Co-ordinator to join their team in Inverurie. With safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service as top priorities, this role is critical to ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods. You will use your import and export freight knowledge to coordinate shipments, liaise with key stakeholders, and deliver cost-effective logistics solutions while meeting customer and regulatory requirements. This is an initial 12 month contract with the view of being extended.
Pay Rate: £17.44 – £18.97 per hour
Working Pattern: Flexible start and finish times. Preference for 5 days in the office, however flexibility may be considered at the Hiring Manager’s discretion. No on‑call work required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise import and export shipments, including obtaining freight quotes, preparing documentation, and coordinating with internal departments.
- Communicate with customers and coordinate collections in line with FCA Incoterms.
- Prepare accurate shipping documentation (e.g. commercial invoices, shipping orders) in compliance with destination country regulations.
- Ensure all import/export activities comply with HMRC and company policies.
- Adhere to international trade compliance procedures and regulations.
- Liaise with brokerage teams to ensure correct customs regimes are applied.
- Coordinate with Sales, Production, Procurement, and Warehouse teams to manage the flow of goods.
- Monitor and resolve shipping delays, damaged goods, or packing issues.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and ensure proper document filing and archiving.
- Update production schedules and keep stakeholders informed of collections and deliveries.
- Support internal and external audits and inspections.
- Carry out additional duties as required by the business.

- Essential: HND in a relevant business qualification or equivalent.
- Desirable: CILT qualification; IATA / IMDG / ADR Dangerous Goods certification.

- Essential: Strong knowledge of import/export logistics procedures, including customs and Incoterms 2020; experience with international sea, air, and road freight operations; familiarity with documentation such as CIPL, BOL, AWB, CMR, and MRN.
Technical Skills:
- Essential: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
