20 Stories High is a theatre company and young people's arts charity. We believe that "everybody has a story to tell... and their own way of telling it" whether that's through words, movement or music. We exist to create a world where culturally diverse, working class and Deaf/disabled young people and young adults' voices are equally valued, seen and heard. Our values are equity, wellbeing and activism. This year is our 20th anniversary.

We are recruiting a new Chair (or Co-Chair) for our Board of Trustees. The Chair leads the board of Trustees, which has the ultimate responsibility of the company, ensuring we are solvent, well run, and deliver our charitable objectives for the benefit of the public. In total, this role requires around 12 days out of your year. We are open to accepting applications from those only interested in the role of Co-Chair. So please apply if you would like to share this role with another person, or apply as a duo if you have someone in mind to Co-Chair with already. Please note, this is a voluntary role. It comes with no salary, but it does come with a front-row seat to some of the most original creative work happening in the country.

We particularly encourage applications from people of the Global Majority, Deaf and disabled people, neurodivergent people, people from working-class backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Please send Amy an email if you'd like to arrange a confidential one-to-one discussion about the role with our current Chair. The deadline to apply is 6th July 2026. Interviews will take place on 13th July 2026. Candidates will be notified of an interview by 7th July 2026.

To apply, complete the Proposal Form and Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form here and send to — or send a video or audio response (BSL welcome), up to 15 minutes. This pack is available in audio, large print and screen-reader compatible formats. If you need anything else, just ask.
